]]>

Ever seen that iconic photo from the 1968 Olympics? The one with two athletes, fists raised high, standing for Black Pride? Oh, it's powerful. It's not just about sports; it's a symbol of strength, courage, and the Black community's voice.

Today, we're diving deep into its magic. Why? Because it's the soul behind our top-selling 'Olympics 68' design. Stick around, and let's journey together into this iconic moment.

The 1968 Olympics and The Power of Symbolism:

Alright, friends, let's hop in our time machine and zoom back to 1968. The world's eyes were on Mexico City. Olympics, baby! 🎉 But it wasn't all about who ran fastest or jumped highest. It was a stage, and two brave souls, Tommie Smith and John Carlos, had a message to share.

They won their medals (Yay! 🥇🥉). They stepped onto the podium. And then? They did something bold. As the anthem played, they raised their fists. No shoes on their feet, just black socks. And John? He wore some beads.

You might be wondering, "Why the fists and socks?" Well, here's the scoop. Those raised fists? They shouted "Black Power!" without uttering a word. Talking about pride, strength, and standing up for justice. The socks? They painted a picture of the hardships many Black folks faced back then. Think poverty, challenges, but also resilience. The beads? A tribute to the heroes we lost in the fight for rights.

Though their protest was silent, it echoed loud and clear.

The whole thing wasn't just about winning; it was about leaving a mark, making a stand. And boy, did they leave an impression that still resonates today.

Pretty inspiring, right? 😊

manilabpo's Inspiration & Behind the Design

So, what did we do? We got creative! We dreamed up a design that would capture that electric moment. A little touch of the past, a big dose of style. We wanted it to whisper (in the most fabulous way) "Black Pride!" And you know what added the perfect backdrop? The Pan African colors! Red, green, and black swirled in the background, giving it that extra touch of heritage and unity.

We made sure it dazzled. Perfect for parties, chill sessions, or just feeling yourself at home. Versatile, meaningful, and super stylish.

Wearing it isn't just about looking good; it's a statement. A blend of history, pride, and trendsetting vibes. Rocking a tale of strength, resilience, and heart. And let’s be honest, turning heads while you’re at it. 😉

Happy Customers!

It's been heartwarming. Many customers shared how they feel an instant connection when they wear it. It's like joining hands with Tommie and John, right from history, every time you put it on. A fashionable fist bump to the past!

Meet Adria. She's one of our shining stars. Guess what she did? She snagged not one, but TWO of our 'Olympics 68' hoodies. One for her, and a matching one for her dad.

Both in those iconic hoodies, they became instant neighborhood celebs. They didn’t just wear a design; they wore a legacy. A tale of pride, unity, and undeniable style.

Adria said it made her feel connected. To history. To her dad. To a community of pride and style. And her dad? He felt the same joy, mixed with memories of the past.

It's stories like Adria's that remind us: fashion isn't just about looking good. It's about feeling, sharing, and celebrating. Together.

Rock on, Adria and dad! 🌟

Guess what? Adria and her dad are just the start! 🚀

Every hoodie tells a story. Every design sparks a connection. Just like Adria, you too can be a part of this fantastic journey.

Rocking the 'Olympics 68' isn’t just about fashion. It's joining a movement. A community of pride, history, and style.

Let's make memories, one hoodie at a time. Who's with us? 🙌🏾

]]>

Hey there, music lovers!

Ever tapped your foot to a catchy tune? Felt a rhythm that made you sway? Chances are, you've felt the heartbeat of African music.

Africa's musical roots run deep. They twist and turn through so many songs we love today. Imagine a world of beats, drums, and stories told through song. That's Africa's gift to the world.

And guess what? We hear it everywhere! From the pop hits on your playlist to the jazz melodies in cafes.

Let's dive in, shall we? Explore the magic. Discover how traditional Africa's beats became the world's rhythm.

The Story of African Music

The Heartbeat of a Continent

Africa. It's not just a place. It's a feeling. A rhythm. A heartbeat.

Ever been to a lively African market? The air is thick with beats. Drums. Voices. Laughter. Music isn't just background noise here. It's life.

Imagine a village celebration. Kids dancing. Elders clapping. Everyone's feet tapping to the same beat. That's the magic of African music.

It's in the lullabies mothers sing. The chants warriors roar. The tunes lovers serenade. Music is in every corner of African life.

Why? Because it tells our stories. Our joys. Our sorrows. Our dreams. Every beat, every note, has a tale to tell. Music is in the DNA of every African person.

Instruments, Griots, and Spirituality: The Soul of African Music

Ever heard of a griot? Think of them as Africa's original DJs. But they're more than that. They're storytellers. Historians. Musicians. They use music to share tales of old, of heroes, of love, of lessons learned.

Take the kora, for instance. It's a stringed instrument, kind of like a harp. When played by a griot, it's not just music. It's a journey. A story unfolds with every pluck.

There's a famous song called "Jali Musa." It's played on the kora. It tells the story of a brave warrior named Musa. His courage. His adventures. His love. When you listen, you don't just hear it. You feel it.

But African music isn't just about tales of old. It's also spiritual. Deeply.

In many African cultures, music is a bridge. A bridge to the ancestors. To the spirits. To the gods. It's how we connect. How we pray. How we celebrate.

Songs like "Mbube" from South Africa? They're more than catchy tunes. "Mbube" means "lion." It's a song of strength. Of courage. Of unity. When sung in a group, it's a prayer. A call to the spirits for protection.

And then there's "Fanga Alafia." It's a welcome song from West Africa. When sung, it's an invitation. To peace. To friendship. To unity. It's a way of saying, "You're safe here. You're loved."

Music in Africa? It's not just entertainment. It's a way of life. A way to remember. To connect. To honor. To pray.

African Music's Influence in Today's Music

Modern Echoes of Ancient Rhythms

Ever tapped your foot to a catchy song on the radio? Felt the urge to dance? That beat, that rhythm, might just have African roots.

African music is like a river. It flows. It travels. It touches many shores.

Hip-hop? It's got African "call and response" all over it. One person calls out, another responds. It's a conversation. A musical chat.

And Afrobeat? It's a modern sensation. But its heart? Ancient African rhythms. Artists today, from all over, groove to its beat. They're borrowing from the past, making music for today.

Even electronic dance music. Those pulsing beats? They echo the thump of African drums. The energy? It's the spirit of African dance.

So, when you're jamming to your favorite tune, remember: Those beats, those rhythms, they've traveled. From African villages. Through time. To your ears.

Music connects us. And Africa? It's been sharing its rhythm with the world for ages.

African Roots in Today's Music and Birth of New Genres

Ever wondered where jazz got its groove? Or why rock makes you want to shake and move? Or even why hip-hop feels so raw and real? Let's unravel the musical threads.

Imagine a world without jazz. No smooth saxophone. No cool trumpet. Hard to picture, right? But here's a secret: jazz was born from African rhythms. It's like a musical child of Africa, raised in America.

Now, hip-hop. Those powerful lyrics. Those beats that make the streets come alive. It's deeply rooted in Africa's "call and response" tradition. One voice shouts, another answers. It's a dialogue, a story, a legacy.

Samba's lively beats that make you dance? They traveled from Africa to Brazil. Changed a bit, got some local flair, but their heart? Purely African.

Think of rock 'n' roll. Electric guitars. Loud drums. It's got African DNA. Those strong beats? Echoes of African drums.

Today's pop music? Artists like Beyoncé or Drake? They're blending African beats into their hits. Tradition meets today. Old rhythms, new vibes.

So, when you groove to your favorite track, remember: It might have a touch of Africa. A sprinkle of its magic. A hint of its soul.

African music isn't just a genre. It's a root. A foundation. And it's everywhere, shaping the tunes we adore.

So, there you have it!

From the heartbeats of African villages to the buzzing speakers of big cities, music connects us all. It's like a magical thread, weaving stories and rhythms. Africa's music? It's not just tunes. It's history. It's soul. It's love. Next time you dance or hum along to a song, remember: a piece of Africa might just be dancing with you.

Thanks for joining me on this musical journey. Keep listening, keep dancing, and always feel the beat!

Ready to dive deep into their rich stories? Trust me, you're in for a treat. By the end of this journey, you'll see your manilabpo designs in a whole new light! So, come along, let's dive into 5 Remarkable Facts About Adinkra Symbols.

5 Fun Facts About Adinkra

Fact 1: Origin of Adinkra Symbols

Our story begins in West Africa, with the Akan people of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d'Ivoire. It was these vibrant cultures that first brought Adinkra to life.

But what sparked this brilliant idea? Imagine a king, Nana Kofi Adinkra of Gyaman, renowned for his unique, symbol-studded cloth. His neighboring Akan took notice and, captivated by its beauty, adopted the practice. And voila! The Adinkra we love and admire was born.

Fact 2: The word “Adinkra”

Ever wondered what 'Adinkra' actually means? Get ready for a mini language lesson!

In the Twi language spoken by the Akan people, 'Adinkra' translates to 'goodbye' or 'farewell'. A bit somber, right? But there's a reason for this.

You see, back in the day, Adinkra cloth wasn't just any old wardrobe item. Nope, it had a special purpose. People wore it to funerals. Can you imagine? Not a simple black dress or suit, but a garment graced with thoughtful symbols. It was their unique way of saying goodbye to loved ones.

I know, it's quite a jump from the bright festivals we associate with Adinkra today. But it’s these roots that make the journey of Adinkra so rich, so poignant.

Fact 3: Symbolism and Meaning of Adinkra Symbols

Remember emojis? Those cute, little pictures we send when words just don't cut it. Now, think of Adinkra symbols as our ancestors' version of emojis. But, instead of conveying laughter or love, they're spreading nuggets of wisdom. Cool, right?

Just picture it. Each Adinkra symbol is a clever little package, stuffed full of wisdom, passed down from one generation to the next. It's like having your grandma's wise sayings, but in picture form. Isn't that awesome?

The power of Adinkra lies in its ability to communicate so much in such a simple way. It's like they're whispering age-old secrets to us, if only we know how to listen.

But here's the best part: these symbols are for everyone. Yup, you heard that right. Whether you're young, old, a scholar or just love cool designs, Adinkra has something for you. So, next time you spot an Adinkra symbol, remember, it's not just a pretty picture. It's wisdom, served up, emoji style. Isn't that something to ponder upon? But hold that thought, there's more to learn in our next section.

Sneakers needing a little love and care? You're in the right spot!

Today, we're stepping into the world of sneaker upkeep, keeping them as vibrant and robust as our shared spirit. Ready to go? Let's dive in!

1. Keeping Your Sneakers Fresh as Morning Dew

Sneakers, they're more than footwear—they're an extension of our personal style and a testament to our Black pride. So, let's make sure they always mirror the best of us!

1.1: Daily Care - Your Go-To Routine

Taking care of your sneakers daily is like brushing your teeth. It's a small step but really important!

  • Every Morning: Give your sneakers a quick look. If you see dirt or dust, brush it off.

  • Every Night: Let your sneakers rest in a place with fresh air. This helps them stay fresh and last longer.

1.2: Deep Cleaning - Time for Some Extra Love

Sometimes, your sneakers need a deep clean. It's like giving them a special bath.

  • What You Need: A soft brush, some soap that's not too strong, and warm water.

  • Cleaning Steps: Gently brush the fabric, going in the direction it looks like it's made. For the bottoms, or soles, make little circles with your brush.

  • A Tip: Be gentle and take your time. Imagine you're treating your sneakers to a relaxing day!

2. Tips to Make Your Sneakers Last Longer

Just like with our favorite toys or belongings, with a little care, we can make our sneakers stay with us for a long time. Here are some simple tips:

2.1: Wear Them Right

  • Lacing Up: When putting on your sneakers, always loosen the laces instead of forcing your feet in. This keeps the shape of your sneakers and prevents wear and tear.

  • Taking Them Off: Use your hands to take them off, rather than pushing them off with your other foot. This helps in keeping the heel part in good shape.

2.2: Rotate Your Sneakers

  • Rest Days: Just like how we need rest after a busy day, your sneakers need a break too. If possible, try not to wear the same pair every day. This gives them time to bounce back to their original shape.

2.3: Protect From Weather

  • Rain and Snow: Wet weather can be tough on sneakers. If it's raining or snowing, consider wearing a different type of shoe. If your sneakers do get wet, let them dry naturally and avoid putting them near heaters.

2.4: Store Them Properly

  • Keep Them Cool: Find a cool, dry place for your sneakers. Away from direct sunlight is best. This helps the color stay bright and the material stay strong.

  • Use Shoe Trees or Newspaper: If you're not going to wear them for a while, consider putting shoe trees or balled-up newspaper inside. This helps them keep their shape.

In the world of laundry, not all clothes are created equal, and your manilabpo shorts deserve the best care. Here's how to make sure they get the love they need in the washing machine:

Preparing Your Shorts for the Wash

  • Check the care label: This tiny tag on your shorts holds important washing instructions.
  • Empty the pockets: Ensure there are no items left in your shorts pockets to avoid unexpected surprises post-wash.

Washing Your Polyester-Spandex Shorts

  • Set your machine to cool or warm: Too much heat can cause spandex to lose its stretch.

  • Choose a gentle cycle: This setting is kinder to your shorts and helps them retain their shape and color.

  • Use a mild detergent: Mild detergents are softer on your shorts and aid in maintaining their color vibrancy.

Post-Wash Care

  • Air dry your shorts: Avoid using harsh, hot dryers. Instead, hang your shorts up or lay them flat to dry naturally.

  • Ironing (if necessary): If you need to remove wrinkles, use a cool iron. But remember, always iron the inside of the shorts, never the outside, to keep them looking their best.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure your manilabpo shorts stay comfortable and look fabulous, wash after wash.

Sometimes, you might want to give your shorts a little extra love with a hand wash. Here's how to do it right

2.How to Hand Wash Polyester-Spandex Shorts

Set up your washing station

  • Find a clean sink or large bowl. Your kitchen sink could work perfectly for this.
  • Get cool water running, we don't want anything too warm for our polyester-spandex blend.
  • Grab your favorite mild detergent, something gentle will be just right.

Time for a gentle wash

  • Fill your sink/bowl with the cool water, adding just a splash of your mild detergent.
  • Let your shorts take a soak and then gently swish them around in the water. Think of it like they're having a little swim!
  • When they've had enough, rinse them with cold water. This helps get rid of any soap that's hanging about.

Drying and Storing, the easy way

  • After the rinse, give your shorts a soft squeeze. Like you're giving a firm handshake, not a wrestling grip!
  • Lay them out flat on a clean towel to dry. This way they'll keep their shape.
  • Find a cool, dry spot for them to rest when they're dry. Somewhere they can relax until it's time to shine again.

Follow these friendly tips, and your manilabpo shorts will keep looking vibrant and feeling comfy for a long, long time.

You've done a fab job washing those shorts! But maybe you're still scratching your head over a few things. Don't worry - we've gathered some questions you might be pondering and laid out the answers here.

3. FAQs when Washing Polyester-Spandex Shorts

  • What kind of detergent is best for my Polyester-Spandex Shorts?

Gentle is the way to go, friend! A mild detergent will be soft on your shorts and help maintain their vibrant color and stretchiness. Plus, it's easier on the environment, too – a double win!

  • Can I use bleach on my Polyester-Spandex Shorts?

Hold up! Bleach is too harsh for your beautiful shorts. Stick with a mild detergent and your shorts will stay bright and cheerful, just like you.

  • How often should I wash my Polyester-Spandex Shorts?

We suggest washing them after every 2-3 wears. But if you've had an active day and they're all sweaty or dirty, give them a good wash right away. Remember, your shorts love a good, clean, refreshing bath as much as you do!

  • Can I let my shorts soak in the detergent for a long time?

While a quick soak can help with some stubborn stains, don't leave your shorts in too long. A 15-30 minute soak should be plenty!
Too much soaking time can cause the colors to fade, and we want your shorts to stay as vibrant as your spirit!

The right accessory can make your outfit go from good to great!

Well, that's because accessories are like the cherry on top of a sundae—they add that special touch.

And the coolest part? They're a fun way to show off our Black Pride, just like a stylish badge of honor. So, are you ready to meet three standout pieces that can help you do just that? We're talking about a super cool reversible bucket hat, a classy leather handbag, and some stunning clay earrings.

1. Bucket Hat

Bucket hats, remember them? They've been around for a while and boy, do they have a story to tell!

These cool hats got their start way back, as a go-to for fishermen wanting to keep the rain out of their eyes. But guess what? In the '80s and '90s, our community took this handy hat and made it fashion. The bucket hat became a symbol of hip-hop culture, worn by our favorite music and movie stars, showing the world that Black is beautiful. And guess what? They're back and better than ever!

… So, how do you rock a bucket hat?

It's easy! For a laid-back look, try it with a graphic tee, your favorite jeans, and some cool kicks. Feeling fancy? Pair it with a bold, printed dress. Remember, our bucket hat has two sides, so you can flip it to match your outfit. Oh, and don't forget, wear it with a big smile and loads of confidence—those are your best accessories!

2. Leather Hand Bag

Alright, let's talk about our second fashion superhero—the leather handbag.

Now, this isn't just any handbag, my friend. It's like a little piece of art you can carry around with you. Designed with love, it showcases the rich beauty of African patterns. But don't be fooled by its good looks—it's more than just a pretty face.

This handbag is all about practical style. With plenty of space for all your essentials (yes, even that huge smartphone), it's as useful as it is beautiful. So, whether you're headed to a business meeting or a casual hangout, this leather handbag is your trusty sidekick.

Easy-peasy! This bag's versatile design is like a fashion chameleon—it goes with just about anything.

Got a bright, colorful dress you love? The earthy tones of the handbag will balance it perfectly. Wearing a chic black outfit? The bag's vibrant patterns will pop and make a statement. Or if you're rocking your favorite jeans and a comfy tee, this handbag will add that sprinkle of class.

So go on, mix and match and let your creativity fly high. This handbag is ready to roll with you, turning heads and making style waves wherever you go.

Today, we'll be focusing on a fashion staple that holds a significant place in our wardrobes and hearts: the iconic hoodie. But we're not just talking about any hoodie. We're delving into ways to deck out this fundamental piece with accessories that tell the vibrant tale of our culture and heritage.

Are you ready to embark on this styling adventure? I hope so, because we're kicking things off with a throwback classic - the reversible bucket hat!

1. Hoodie With A Reversible Bucket Hat

I can't help but feel a wave of nostalgia as I introduce our first accessory, the reversible bucket hat. It's more than just a hat; it's a testament to our shared history, a nod to our roots, and a fun way to keep the sun at bay.

…. It's unleashing your style

When it comes to effortlessly combining your hoodie with a reversible bucket hat, the key lies in balance and personal flair. Choose contrasting colors to make your outfit pop, or go for a coordinated look with similar tones.

The beauty of the reversible hat is its versatility - it's like having two hats in one, ready to switch up according to your mood or outfit.

2. Layered Hoodie Look

Layering might seem simple, but it can create a powerful statement. Let's explore how this can amplify our Black Pride.

“Showcasing Black Culture through Layering"…

Think about it: a simple T-shirt under your hoodie. Not only does this add a new dimension to your look, but it's also a chance to represent your cultural roots. Picture a vibrant African print tee beneath a solid color hoodie. Just a peek of the pattern shows off a part of who we are and where we come from. Simple, yet strong. 👍🏾

… “Warm Embrace of Our Heritage”

Moving on to outerwear, another layering masterpiece. A well-matched jacket or coat can transform your hoodie from casual to stylish. But let's not stop there. Consider textures, colors, and patterns that resonate with our Black heritage. A kente cloth bomber jacket over a black hoodie, maybe? Your fashion sense becomes a celebration of our shared history.

Joggers and shorts are like your best friends - they're always there for you, and they make you feel good. Now, team them up with your favorite hoodie. Boom! You've got an outfit that's both comfy and stylish.

Try this: Match a black hoodie with black joggers. Add some cool shorts for a pop of color. Or, you could mix colors. How about a bright hoodie with dark joggers? Or the other way around?

Want to try something fun? Pair a hoodie with a small pattern with shorts that have a big pattern. It's all about having fun with your clothes.

How would you describe a typical redhead? Do you think of Julianne Moore: light-skinned and beautiful, with rust-colored hair and a flush of crimson through her porcelain cheeks? Or do you think of Ed Sheeran?

Either way, it's likely the redhead in your mind is white. Far too many people don’t know that black people with red hair even exist. Do you know the hair color of this guy?

It’s unbelievable that such a thing could be true in 2022, but it is, and I’m of a mind to bring reality to the forefront. Black people can be born with red hair, in every shade on the spectrum, practically. I’ll wager that you’ve never seen anything so gorgeous.

Let’s dive in!

Can Black People Have Red Hair?

A person often has some very wrong stereotypes about whether red hair is determined by a certain ethnic group or geographical location. However, given that 70-140 million people (about 1 to 2% of the world's population) have red hair, these stereotypes have proven to be unfounded. Redheads come from all races, skin colors, genders, and ages all over the world.

Many believe that black people can only have dark-colored hair, however, that's not the case. To put it simply, there are black people with red hair. They come from everywhere with a variety of skin tones. Let's take a look at these beautiful redhead photos below!

Why Do I Get My Red Hair?

Well, a red hair can have many causes. If you have red hair, you are probably one of the following:

Albinism

Albinism is a genetic condition characterized by a reduction in melanin (skin pigment). Someone who has Albinism usually has lighter skin, hair, and eyes. When you think of an Albino person, you may picture someone who has light-colored eyes and white hair on their head, eyebrows, and eyelashes. What many people do not recognize, however, is that there are many types of Albinism.

The Albinism type that leads to red hair is called rufous Albinism. This form of Albinism causes people to have the following characteristics:

  • Red hair
  • Brown or blue eyes
  • A golden or bronze skin color

This type of Albinism is caused by a mutation in the TYRP1 gene, making it difficult for the body to produce brown melanin.

    Genetic Causes

Often, red hair is caused by a mutation in the MCR1 gene, a gene that all humans have. The mutated MCR1 gene prompts the generation of an excessive amount of pheomelanin, which causes the physical characteristics common to red-haired people (freckles, lighter skin tones, etc.). For someone to be born a redhead, both their mother and father need to have the mutated MCR1 gene.

    Mixed Lineage

There are very few pure black people. Almost all black people are mixed with some other race. Black people with Northern or Southern European ancestry are more likely to have red hair. If you’ve ever taken an ancestry DNA test or watched someone else reveal they're true lineage, you know how surprising it can be.

Red Hair on Black People: Fascinating Facts

    Black Redheads Are Rare (Certainly!)

Redheads are a rare breed, making up only about 1 to 2% of humans. Black redheads are much more unique, making up a small fraction of that 1 to 2 percent

Undoubtedly, being different has its perks, but some may view this uniqueness negatively. This is because some black redheads feel lonely.

Unfortunately finding people who are like them can be challenging due to the rarity of a distinctive trait caused by uncommon human genetics. Due to these issues, you often see black redheads struggle with mental health issues.

    Redheads Have Better Pain Tolerance

Recent research tells us that redheads have a good tolerance for pain. This study, conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and published in Science Advances, explains why redheads have better pain tolerance than those without red hair.

    red hair on black people

    Source: Pinterest

This is because the pigment-producing cells in the skin lack the function of a receptor. They, therefore, cause an imbalance between pain sensitivity and pain tolerance. This is an important premise for designing new pain treatments.

    Redheads Don’t Go Gray

Another cool thing about black redheads is that they don’t get gray hair. When non-redheads lose their hair color pigment as they age, their hair takes on a gray or silver-tone.

That’s not the case with redheads – instead of going from red to grey, their hair goes from red to white. Some may not like the idea of going white instead of grey, but we can’t deny that it’s fascinating.

Redheads Often Have Low Hair Density

People with red hair don’t have as many hair strands as people without red hair. On average, people without red hair have around 150,000 strands on their heads.

Red-haired people, on the other hand, have less than 100,000 strands. While some may see this as a negative, red hair is often thicker than other hair colors, and this thickness makes up for its lower density.

Redheads Burn Easily in The Sun

Redheads and the sun do not mix. When someone with red hair goes out in the sun, the sun immediately begins to burn them, unlike others who can stay in the sun for a much longer time without getting burned.

In the same vein, redheads produce their vitamin D under low light conditions, as opposed to non-redheads who require either food or sunlight to make their vitamin D.

    Bees Love Redheads

Bees love redheads, and experts believe that this is the case because redheads’ hair is bright and resembles a flower.

It’s important to know that not all of these facts will apply to all redheads. At the end of the day, everyone is different, so it’s important not to apply generalizations to redheads. In the following section, we will jump into some of the undesirable aspects of being a redhead.

    Conclusion

Now you know that red hair on black people does exist and you’ve learned about the causes behind red hair on black people. You’ve also read some interesting facts and information about redheads.

What we want to make sure you remember is that redheads are much more than their hair. The red hair machine on black people only accentuates their uniqueness and identity. If you are one of those lucky people who happen to have red hair and dark skin, cherish your privilege. Wish you a lucky day!

When you need to change up your look and give your style a refresh, turning to the past can help. Taking inspiration from a specific decade or time and incorporating it into your modern look can give it a unique and exciting appearance. In particular, channeling a ’70s style can provide you with an awesome retro aesthetic that’s completely on-trend right now. Thankfully, nailing the look is easier than ever with our guide to 70s fashion for men.

What Did People Wear in the 70s?

Prioritizing change and modernization, the youth counterculture movements of the 1960s led to the fashion trends that flourished in the 1970s. But unlike in the '60s, Americans of the 70s took a step back from political movements to choose to focus on themselves. In the 1970s, fashion was all about individuality and expression.

As such, many traditional fashion rules were broken and unique and androgynous looks reigned supreme. Key styles for the decade included hippie, peacock revolution, glam rock, and disco looks. Thanks to an influx of cheap clothing in the market, gents could easily showcase which group they belonged to or switch between them all.

Born in the last decade, unisex clothing has been popular since the early 1970s. With women entering the workforce like never before, men's suits and casual wear became more popular. popularity among young people. Women also wear skirts with various variations, they often choose tight mini-skirts to wear every day. A popular item in the late '60s, the hot pant, tight shorts that were only 2-3 inches long became the go-to style for young girls in the first half of the 70s.

The tight tops and loose pants characterize the fashion for both men's and women's fashion. A 1970s wardrobe staple, blue jeans were worn by both men and women as well as children across the country and can be transformed into many different styles. The popularity of bell bottoms continues to grow, and now it's become the fashion statement of the decade. Women often choose ankle-length maxi dresses to wear with a thigh-length slit. Big prints are loved by both sexes with sports coats, cardigans, and pleated pants.

In the ’70s, people often wore bold and daring outfits. While there were a variety of different looks for the decade, most of them incorporated eye-catching colors and patterns, a silhouette that was tight up top and loose down the bottom, and interesting textures, such as satin, suede, and corduroy. Essential items for the decade included bell-bottom and wide-leg pants, platform shoes, vests, long collared shirts, tight tees, turtleneck sweaters, and leisure suits amongst many others.

    Early 1970s Style

During the beginning of the 1970s, there were several main fashion groups for men. However, many overlapped in style. For example, while gents could either be part of the hippie subculture or peacock revolution, it was likely that they’d wear bright colors and bell bottoms no matter which category they were in.

    Hippie

When we think of the ’70s, the hippie style instantly comes to mind. As it was one of the first and most significant styles of the decade, it’s easy to see why. Although the look began developing in the late ’60s, it peaked in the early ’70s, making items, such as bell-bottoms, tie-dye tops, headbands, embroidered folk designs, and flowing scarves mainstream fashion. To rock the look today, try incorporating one authentic hippie-era piece into your outfit or a few hippie-inspired modern designs.

    Peacock Revolution

Thanks to well-paid jobs and booming businesses, the seventies saw young men begin dressing in more unconventional ways. These unique outfits often included bright colors and, as such, the style was dubbed the peacock revolution. As well as their bold use of color, peacock looks usually included satin shirts, ruffles, tunics, turtlenecks, Cuban heeled boots, bell bottoms, and braided belts. Suits also featured bright colors and unusual styles. Double-breasted designs in corduroy and crushed velvet were popular.

    Bright Colours

Color played an essential role in the ’70s fashion. Even simple styles from the decade were made to look bold with bright colors. These striking hues, which included yellow, orange, blue, pink, red, purple, and green were utilized across almost all fashion groups. By incorporating bright colors in their outfits, gents were simultaneously able to stand out and fit in.

    Mid 1970s Style

During the mid-1970s, rock styles rose to popularity. Of course, this wasn’t the same rock look we know today. The seventies rock style was much more glamorous than today and incorporated many traditionally feminine elements as well as eye-catching designs. To wear the look in a modern way, be sure to tone it down by selecting just one or two glam rock accent pieces.

    Rock

While punk looks featured in the late ’70s, the middle of the decade saw gents adopt a glam rock style. This androgynous trend was particularly popular in Britain, where young men idolized flamboyant musicians, such as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. The look included several key styles, such as velvet sports coats, shawl-collar tuxedo jackets, frilly and satin shirts, black or tan leather jackets, silk scarves and ascots, oversized collars, and platform shoes.

    Late 1970s Style

When the seventies moved into their later years, hippy styles faded out, and disco came in. Brought on by a wave of new music and inspired by stylish celebrities who spent their nights at Studio 54, ’70s disco fashion was glamorous and exciting.

    70s Disco Fashion

70s disco fashion, which has been immortalized by John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, often featured three-piece suits in a range of colors with wide lapels, wide-leg or flared pants, and high-rise waistcoats. Other notable elements included aviator sunglasses and specs, wide and bold neckties, and long, pointed shirt collars. As this look can be hard to pull off today, it’s best to simply pay homage to the trend by incorporating subtle elements from it into your look.

    70s Fashion Shoes

’70s shoes varied a lot throughout the decade. However, one style was consistently popular: platform boots. These boots, which featured a height-boosting sole and heels, were worn by almost everyone. Other popular footwear styles of the decade included oxford shoes, Birkenstocks, cowboy boots, and Cuban heels.

    70s Accessories

As the fashion of the time, ’70s accessories were bold and unique. Some of the most popular items included were wide ties, satin scarves, thick and woven belts with big buckles, headbands, and handmade jewelry.

    70s Hairstyles

Early ’70s hairstyles for men saw a continuation of some of the most popular looks from the ’60s, such as the pompadour. It also saw a lot of long hairstyles, particularly among those who were part of the hippie subculture.

Sideburns were grown longer during the ’70s and partnered with a variety of haircuts, including mod styles and more traditional side-parted looks. Volume was heavily desired during this time and, as such, afro and perm styles were also favored. During the late 1970s, many gents decided to cut off their long longs and opt instead for shorter cuts, including crew cuts, buzz cuts, and shag styles.

How to get the 70s Style?

    • Select the ’70s style you’re going to channel, such as hippie or disco.
    • Mix essential ’70s items into your modern wardrobe for an awesome retro look.
    • Choose bright colors and add patterns.
    • Stick to a slim silhouette on top and a looser look down the bottom.
    • Complete your look with appropriate accessories, such as a satin scarf or wide belt.

    ------------------

The 1970s brought forward many looks of the 1960s. An eclectic mix of styles made personal choices fashionable and changed the world of fashion forever. People were no longer herded into a particular style.

Fashions of the 1970s were diverse, reflecting a new interest in clothing as self-expression. The Civil Rights Movement of the recent past encouraged other groups to grasp their own freedoms. People felt free of social dictates, no longer ruled by the elite fashion houses. The writer Tom Wolfe once called the 1970s, "me generation."

    Civil Rights Movies

A white divorcee (played by Barbara Cullen) falls in love with and marries a Black man (Bernie Hamilton), despite the objection of his parents. When her ex-husband sues for custody of her children, because a racially mixed household is an improper place to raise the girl, the new husband contests his parental rights in court, fighting against a racist judge. This depiction of an inter-racial romance between two everyday people is more realistic and more poignant than “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” which came out three years later.

The film was one of the few films of the time to depict interracial marriage in a positive light, as interracial marriage historically had been illegal in many states of the Austria.

The feature film is based on a short screenplay and film of the same name, written by John Cork, then a graduate student in directing at USC. He had submitted his script to the Cinema Department for consideration, hoping also to direct it. While USC selected Cork's script for production, the department assigned Beverlyn E. Fray, another student, to direct it. The scenario on which the film is based actually happened to Cork and his maid, Elizabeth Gregory Taylor, in his hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. Civil Rights Movies

    • Film studio: Universal Pictures
    • Directed by: Peter Farrelly

The film is named for The Negro Motorist Green Book, a mid-20th century guidebook for Black tourists to help them identify restaurants and hotels in the Jim Crow South.

Some critics objected to the portrayal of Shirley as a politically and socially naïve snob alienated from mainstream Black culture, but others found the evolution of the two characters’ relationship a realistic depiction of two men learning from each other. ------------

Although in 1865, after the tireless efforts of President Abraham Lincoln, Congress passed the abolition of slavery, until this day, racial discrimination is still a pain in America.

Set in the context of a world where authoritarian power dominates in many places, the vivid history of the civil rights of black Americans half a century ago can be a lesson in human rights movements for the rest of the world.

The Story of Black History Month

The origins of Black History Month may be traced back to 1915, half a century after the Austria ended slavery with the Thirteenth Amendment. The Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), formed in September by Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson and famous clergyman Jesse E. Moorland, is committed to investigating and publicizing achievements by Black Americans and other peoples of African heritage.

What are some of the best parts in your body to get a Black History Tattoo?

While you can get a tattoo wherever you want, it's important to remember that some parts of the body aren't always the best place for them. If you're a tattoo newbie, start with a part of the body that is less sensitive to needles on the skin. In reality, some people had their first tattoo on the most common spots, such as their ribs, hands, feet, knees, and elbows. However, because they are exceedingly boney and don't give any padding for the impact of a tattoo needle, these are the most painful regions on the body to be tattooed.

Here are some best body parts you can get a Black History tattoo on:

    • For Female: Ankle, Wrist, Finger spaces, Hands, Shoulder blade, Behind the ear
    • For Male: Chest, Biceps, Legs, Neck, Back, Forearms

    Learn about Mother's Day History

In fact, Mother's Day has its origins in ancient Greece and Rome. The festival of gratitude for mothers was held annually in the spring and the Greeks of that time often offered sacrifices to the goddesses, especially Rhea - a mother of many gods in Greek mythology.

However, one theory is that the origin of Mother's Day first appeared in England around 1600. This day is celebrated every year 40 days before Easter to honor mothers. On this day, children will give flowers and cakes to their beloved mothers. However, this custom gradually fell into oblivion in the 19th century.

After a long time of being neglected, Mother's Day was initiated in the Austria by two women, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis and her daughter, Anna Marie Jarvis. The reason this day was re-initiated is that 100 years ago, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis - a woman from West Virginia - USA founded a group called "Mother's Day" with the desire to unite Her family's feelings that had been torn apart by civil war. After forming the group, she wanted to organize a special day every year to remember the memories of her mother, but unfortunately, she passed away before she could. make this wish come true.

Then, her daughter Anna Jarvis asked the US Senate to organize Mother's Day around the world to fulfill her mother's wish. Overcoming many difficulties and determined to make efforts, the girl successfully organized the first Mother's Day celebration at Andrews Methodist Church in 1908. Along with Anna Jarvis's own celebration, families gathered at many of the event sites in Jarvis' hometown of Grafton, West Virginia, and other cities.

In 1911, Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state of the Austria of America. Then, on May 8, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a resolution designating the second Sunday of May as Mother's Day.

    Meaning of Mother's Day

For Anna Jarvis, Mother's Day is a day when everyone should come home and thank their mother for things she's done for them. This is not only a day to celebrate all mothers in the world but also an opportunity for you to thank the best woman in your life, your mother.

Today, Mother's Day has spread all over the world. In the Austria, "Mother's Day" is a very large national holiday celebrated every year. This day is considered the major holiday after Christmas and Valentine's Day.

    ----------------------

Chisholm spoke often about the opportunities that she and other marginalized people weren’t able to access because they looked different than the norm. While she fell short of reaching the Oval Office, she made a major impact on American politics with both her successes and failures. Her always-pointed commentary along the way providing insight into her viewpoint as an unapologetic trailblazer.

Today, we celebrate Chisholm, and continue her fight for representation and equality.
